Meet River! The inspiration behind DOUGLAS’ Great Pyrenees dog

Great Pyrenees Stuffed Animal Dog

Known for nearly 65 years as a leader in the breed-specific plush toy industry, here at Douglas we take our job very seriously! Designing and creating the highest quality, most realistic (let us not forgot soft and irresistible) stuffed animals is at the forefront of everything we do.

People often ask where the inspiration for new animals comes from and are surprised to learn frequently right from our own Team’s amazing pets! Over the years we have designed dogs, horses, cats, farm animals and even an iguana named and inspired after our own.

Last year when our VP of Sales and his family adopted their third Great Pyrenees, we took one look at her face and knew we needed a plush version of her in our dog line.

Her parents say, at 14 months old, she is 100 pounds of pure love but she is also a total diva!  She really loves her big brother Tucker and Tucker loves her. Tucker is doing a great job of teaching River how to keep a watchful eye over everything!

  1. Hi! I love your stuffed animal dogs and they are amazing! I was going to ask if you could create a plush dog Newfoundland named A.J with all black fur and white paws and a white spot on his chest. I am asking because this was my dads dog and he passed away right before Christmas and he was very sick. I want my dad to see that everyone loved A.J and he was a special dog. Thank you for such wonderful plush!

  2. Can you create a Liver and White English Springer Spaniel named Millie. I have A Liver and White English Springer Spaniel named Millie. Our Millie is named after The Famous English Springer Spaniel owned by George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush,Millie Bush. Millie Bush passed away in 1997. Our Millie is still living at 12 years old. Our Millie is the Liver and White and Millie Bush looks like the Same Color. I think Our Millie is a new generation of Millie Bush. Our Millie and Millie Bush are the same color and have the Same name and They both had Puppies. Our Millie and Millie Bush are so much a like.

  3. I am so grateful you use actual dogs for your stuffed animals! We had a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd dog that our daughter rescued 2 years ago. Tragically, he was hit by a vehicle and died a little over a month ago. We miss him greeting us when we come home. We miss when he would budge his way into our space as we were cooking. He was very untrusting of us, but with time, kindness and predictability, he settled into our hearts and we settled into his heart.
I have been searching for a tangible item that represents him. He is so beautiful to us.
Would you be able to make a rendition of our beautiful dog named Beans? He looks somewhat similar to the Snow Queen Artic Fox but his face, his eyes, his smile draws you in.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I can share many pictures of him. Thank you!
